Supermarket



Julia needs to go to the supermarket. She needs to buy 3 things for her family: milk, eggs, and flour. With these ingredients, she can make a cake. The cake is for her brother's birthday. The ingredients are prepared, put together, and baked in the oven to make something delicious. Julia can't wait!

Grammar Point: Semicolon

Semicolons are most often used to connect 2 independent clauses. An independent clause is a sentence that can stand on its own. Without a semicolon, 2 independent clauses can be separated by a period. For example: "The ice cream truck drove by my house today. It was playing wonderful music." When you add a semicolon, the two are connected. It looks like this: "The ice cream truck drove by my house today; It was playing wonderful music.

Write 3 sentences using a semicolon.

  1. I like the simplicity of this blog. It also gives the students a picture when they are reading it and learning about going grocery shopping. I also really like your grammar point. I think not many ELs know and understand what a semicolon is.
